I am an avid believer that God uses divine appointments in peoples lives at just the right time and when you least expect it. My initial acquaintance w Nicky is no exception and I am convinced not a happenstance either. Our meeting started out at a casual event for new residents to Fleming Island along with our husbands. From that first meeting - we instantly connected and that acquaintance has turned into friendship, transitioned into mentor and coach relationship and now a deeper and more profound friendship. So allow me to share a bit of my journey and how I came to know Nicky...
During this time in my life, I had retired early from a demanding career in search of balance, a sense of peace and well being. This search came after struggling to juggle a career, work travel demands around the globe, a growing family including my husband and our 2 sons, and other life responsibilities - nothing very different from so many in the world today. But I was trying to do all of this and failing miserably amidst multiple serious health challenges - including one very close brush with death. Life is just messy for so many and while I recognized I was blessed with a wonderful and supportive husband and family - I still was struggling to search for the purpose in my life and why I was still on this earth.
A year into my retirement and this search for my next chapter, my husband and I suddenly found ourselves moving to the island away from family and friends through a relocation for my husband. And it was almost 6 months to the day that Nicky and I met.
So what is so special about this lady named Nicola, affectionally that I call Nicky? Nicky has a genuine and authentic spirit, an ability to truly listen and then gently and at times not so gently ask poignant questions to help you sift through the clutter and confusion within your circumstances. Nicky has lived her “own” experiences and reshaped her approach and thought processes and is inspired to help others find inspiration and realize all the possibilities through their own GEM’s (God empowering moments).
Nicky has been so inspiring with her own story but so relatable in helping me to look at my own situations with a fresh perspective and such a positive and bright outlook to see all of the possibilities that await me. But she doesn’t stop there - instead she challenges you to action and to be a better person amidst the journey.
I strongly encourage any one who is at a cross road or dealing with the challenges of life and are searching for a new path - give Nicky a call. You won’t be disappointed!!!
Nicola Irvine practices what she preaches. In 2016, through a series of messages, internet searches, and online connections, I was put in contact with a woman named Nicky during my most difficult time in life. My young son was unconscious, in a hospital bed, fighting a life-or-death battle with bacterial meningitis. Nicky reached out to me. To say I was distraught at this time is an understatement. Nicky reassured me that there is a pathway through this dark time. She encouraged me to persevere. She called me from around the world, messaged me frequently, and supported me - a stranger she had never met - through to the next phase of life.
When a child fights a horrendous disease, your life hits the “restart” button. My son was left with life-changing disabilities. He was hospitalized for months and discharged with acquired brain injuries, profound deafness, the inability to speak, and coordination issues. By 2017, everything I knew about child rearing and teaching felt like it went right out the window. I suffered through a severe depression. During this time, Nicky kept in contact with me and encouraged me to work past these difficulties. I was lost, and she acted as a guidepost.
In 2018 Nicky and I met in person. She flew to Hong Kong to see me and we discussed my expectations for the next phase in my son’s life. When living abroad with a child who lives with disabilities, navigating schools, therapists, friendships, and the never-ending journey of seeking support, is exhausting on the best of days. On top of this, I had a fresh diagnosis of cancer and was beginning my own health battle. Yet again, Nicky was there with inspirational advice and unrelenting support.
I’m in a positive mental place despite my health and personal challenges. Nicky is still here. She’s no longer a “woman named Nicky” in a message or a call to a frightened mother lost in a medical nightmare. She’s so much more. She’s an inspiration. She’s understanding. She shares her wealth of knowledge. Her determination exudes positivity. I couldn’t recommend her more.
Loren & Rob Glenn
I support Loren and Rob as individuals and as a couple.
Rob: Nicola has more or less taken a strain off assisting us to get through to others what our needs are.
We appreciate her guidance and I like that she doesn’t tell us what to do.
Loren: Nicola supports us so we don’t get taken advantage of. Nicola is a good listener. She gives direct and honest support helping us to see things from different perspectives. My family feels more at ease knowing Nicola is supporting us.
Simon: a friend of Loren and Rob’s for 20 years
Having Nicola advocate for Rob and Loren is important as they know she is there for them. She creates a rapport that allows open sharing, ease of understanding.
Ivan & Judith Read (Loren’s parents): We are pleased to have someone
like-minded with background knowledge supporting our daughter. Nicola gives an independent overview.
